SERVICE AWARE NETWORKING
Founded in 1988, MRV Communications started as an innovator in Metro and Access optical components. High-end Metro and Access transceivers enable network equipment to operate across large campuses and in regional networks. Through its wholly owned subsidiary, Luminent, MRV pioneered transmission platforms developed for large scale deployment of GPON, BPON and FTTH/FTTP. These platforms are used by carriers such as Verizon and AT&T/Bell South to provide “triple play” services for voice, cable TV, IPTV and ultra-high speed Internet access to residential and business customers. For more than 18 years, MRV Communications has been supplying leading edge network equipment to carrier, service providers and enterprise customers worldwide. MRV has also been providing datacenter management and control solutions to enterprise customers, as well as providing real time data acquisition and control solutions for aerospace and defense programs. Globally, MRV provides additional services such as network integration and distribution of networking equipment. With a strong optical heritage in both components and systems, MRV has been credited with significant technical innovations in Ethernet and optical systems. These include, but are not limited to: the first 10/100 auto-negotiating LAN switch, the first Gigabit Ethernet optical link to span 75km and the first Metro Ethernet network deployment. Most recently, the first DWDM SFP transceivers with transmission distances up to 200km, the first 10 Gb/s DWDM/CWDM XFP transceivers to transmit up to 120km and the industry's first High Definition SDI SFP transceivers. MRV provides a completely integrated, secure, end-to-end solution from optical transport, Ethernet aggregation and remote presence management to network management. At the access layer, the MRV solution provides any form of Ethernet connectivity, from VDSL over standard Telephone-wires, up to Gigabit Ethernet, with complete intrusion and traffic rate control. In the backbone, the complete IP and MPLS solution connects these high-speed networks together, and even allows VPNs and unmatched Quality of Service. Where there is no fiber, or fiber cannot easily be deployed, MRV provides a solution using FSO technology, which can be deployed quickly and easily to carry any protocol from one building to the next without digging up the street. When Gigabits are not enough, or when a customer requires a full wavelength to itself, MRV provides a full solution of WDM technology. MRV also provides a unique network management system that allows in-band and out-of-band control over network elements, right down to the power strips. Why MRV? Optical Transport - LambdaDriver, Fiber Driver, TereScope Advanced fiber optimization includes fiber grooming, remote management and WDM based solutions, deployed from enterprise optical storage extension to carrier long-haul core networks. MRV also offers optical protection, transparent optical extension/conversion and ultra high-bandwidth optical wireless solutions, including the first 10Gb wireless Ethernet link. Optical Demarcation — OptiSwitch 300, OptiSwitch 900 This family of intelligent Ethernet based optical termination platforms are installed on customer premises for cost effective, wide-scale Metro Ethernet deployments. Optical Packet Switching — OptiSwitch 9000 Advanced Ethernet/IP technologies include Ethernet service aggregation and IP/MPLS/VPLS/WDM service platforms with advanced traffic management and end-to-end OAM and service monitoring. Network Infrastructure — LX Series, Media Cross Connect Out-of-band networking systems provide secure remote access, remote power management and environmental monitoring.
